Localized Cryo

Spot treat cold therapy to isolated areas

Localized cryotherapy is a therapeutic treatment of cold exposure to any one specific area. The therapy is designed quickly drop body surface temperature in an isolated area penetrating damaged tissue for inflammation reduction. High pressure cold air applied immediately following a whole body cryotherapy session allows for 400% more penetration as the capillaries are still open from vasodilation. Used as a stand alone treatment, localized is similar to a cold pack on your body. Used in tandem with the whole body cryotherapy, it's like getting the cold pack INSIDE of your body for exponential healing. In addition to inflammation management, clients also use localized therapy to relieve migraine headaches, reduce concussion symptoms, to tighten skin and increase collagen and elastin production.

How long is the session? For larger areas like the back and hamstrings, you will need 5-7 minutes. For smaller areas like elbows, wrists and knees, 3 minutes of localized cryotherapy is sufficient.

What happens in the session?  The machine ranges from settings of 5-9 which you can adjust based on your level of inflammation.  For hard to reach areas, our staff is available to assist. Otherwise, clients often spot treat themselves. We simply ask that you take care with the tube as not to crack. For more discreet areas, we close the door for privacy.  For those clients seeking relief from migraines or concussions, our staff takes great care with lighting and noise to ensure comfortable healing.

Does it hurt? No. The cold can be uncomfortable for the first few minutes as your body adjusts but it's just cool, dry air. Most clients are more excited about the way they feel after to even notice the cold session.

What do I do after the session? For muscle relief, try contrasting the cold with the Infrared Sauna or Red Light Therapy. For a relaxing massage, try our compression therapy.

How often do I need to come for multiple treatments? Like most therapies cold exposure benefits have a compounded interest for effectiveness. If you are looking to address pain or inflammation, we suggest adding whole body cryotherapy sessions before your localized to open the capillaries for greater penetration of the cold. We also offer cryotherapy memberships as well as full circuit memberships with visits ranging from unlimited to weekly.
